Anna Politkovskaya murdered - write to the Russian government

On October 7, 2006, renowned journalist, author and human rights defender Anna Politkovskaya was shot dead in her apartment building. There can be little doubt that her death is related to her tireless work of exposing human rights violations, cruelty. government neglect and corruption in Chechnya and elsewhere in Russia. We therefore ask those who admired Anna Politkovskaya's courage and body of work to demand a full investigation of her death.

How to best make your voice heard

"I am deeply disturbed and saddened by the news that journalist and author Anna Politkovskaya has been murdered. Anna Politkovskaya was one of Russia’s brightest and most dedicated citizens and one of the world’s most courageous writers. Her pursuit of the truth in Chechnya may have been critical of your government and the Chechen Republic's leadership's policies and actions, but it was always in the interest of the innocent victims of years of armed violence and it was to the credit of your country. Anna Politkovskaya's writings were widely read and she had many friends and admirers in the United States. Moved by great sorrow and deep concern, I urge you to convey to your President and your government my sincere hope that they will conduct a full and honest investigation of this brutal and callous murder of Russia’s most outstanding and courageous woman and ensure that her killer and all persons responsible for the murder are brought to justice."
